no time

no new posts of late. trying to get through a particulalry messy home purchase, which is taking up all of my time and elevating my blood pressure. almost through I think.

no news on the baby front, except he's still keeping himself quite busy in there. I would truly love to know what the heck he is so busy doing. for Ame's sake I hope he decides to come out soon; she is starting to really slow down.

a good day

cpt_smithswirlhodsmillardamonconferencemanny_breakflagsfenway_widedamon_28bigscreendamon_28straightmillarschill_warmupschill_prayerfansyah_dude

you could say it was a good day

got up at 5:30; fished from 6:30 to 10 this morning. caught tons of blues, then went to a the sox-yankees game. weather was perfect. sox lost, but Johnny Damon (Amy's, um, favorite player) extended his hitting streak to 28 games. there are no photos of batters from the game because we had obstructed view seats. the obstruction was a big window that we could see through, but the camera wasn't crazy about it.

a big thank you to hods for allowing me to use his other sox ticket.

oh, in case you're wondering who the guy is in the last photo (red shirt, green visor), I don't know. But he was such a the perfect fan that I had to have his picture: drunk, loud, green sox visor, sox towel draped around his shoulders (missing from photo unfortunately), screaming to the players AND to his friends who also had single tickets and were scattered around our section. last but not least, he was just big, loud and drunk enough that most people were afraid of him, including the poor family next to him, they were polite, it not more than a little scared. Hods felt like this guy should be a Simpsons character...in that "fulfilling all the stereotypes" kind of way. I should mention that all in all, he and his friends were actually quite harmless. no one got hurt or kicked out. they were just a little highstrung.

ultrasound photos

here are the scanned pictures from the ultrasound last week. for those uninitiated in ultrasound viewing, I've put some tags on there so you can decipher the little alien's features a little better.

things have been a little on the busy side lately, trying to buy a home, new job, doctors appointments; which has hardly left any time for fishing let alone blogging. so for today, we're just putting up a quick baby update and a nice little picture.

baby update: ultrasound the other day went well. the doc wanted to be sure the little bugger was facing the right direction, which he was. the ultrasound lady also confirmed my suspicions that he's "a little on the active side" her first question to us was, "is he always this active?" then she told us that he didn't stop moving his mouth during the entire ultrasound...and that he was sticking his tongue out a bunch. so that's good. I have some pictures that I keep meaning to scan in from the test. I hope to get them up here soon.

the fourth

we finally made it to the town parade that we've been hearing about for years. it starts kind of early in the morning, so we never really made much effort to get there. this year we were convinced to have a look. the parade is called a horribles parade.

keep that in mind if you decide to watch the little mini slide show thing I have here. for those uninitiated in the idea, here is the basic idea: a fourth of july small town parade with a mix of traditional entries (firetrucks, old cars, bands) and non-traditional entries. and by non-traditional, I mean inappropriate. since appropriateness is sometimes overrated, i had to see this for myself and share with my family and friends. often the non-traditional entries tend to be inside or local jokes, but national stories are fair game as well. not that I am an expert after viewing my first horribles parade by any stretch, but it seems like the town views it as their independence/first amendment day parade.

so, like I said, some of the parade entries in this slide show may be slightly offensive to some of you more sensitive types. one more thing, the slide show has sound, so if you don't want to hear it, turn down your sound or hit the little sound button next to the play button on the viewer.

independence day eve

fs2
what a perfect day. we got up a little early and spent our first day on the boat together. weather couldn't possibly have been better and we got ame a fish. you can see a few more photos by clicking on the b&w of ame over on the right.

it's been a busy week for us, so this was a real nice way for us to just spend some time together. in other news, capt. smith has a new gig that we are very excited about. we were discussing on the way out how it seems like the perfect job for him. truly hope it works out for him.

oh, check this out. you can see my son, clearly ecstatic to be on the water this fine day, sticking a little body part out on ame's left side, right under her shirt.

one more thing, there's a lot of photos of ame all over the place, huh? don't worry, soon the little guy will be getting most of the good real estate around here.
