playing school. While little brother snoozed this morning mama and Jake played school. The best part of playing school at home is that you can pack your entire backpack filled with goodies for show and tell. We had our circle time on our square blankets and this is what my student brought:



In case you can't tell here is what is included: hats, army mittens, scare away cat sling shot, fish camera, lips with a mouth, 3 light lightsaber (real), indian wallet, gun, spiderman bandaid, 2 bombs, hot wheels watch, Legoland drivers license, baseball schedule, guitar pick, top of a bolt, special, special, saving pennies, super, super special penny, indian belt.

done. I am thankful to both have completed a quilt for a dear friend who had her babe back in September. I delivered it to her last week and am so glad to hand it off. I hadn't planned on getting it to her when the baby was born, but was hoping for mid-October, not early November. However, it's not like he is rolling around at this point, so, I believe my timing is good and he'll be ready for some good tummy time at home.

warmth. I was so very thankful for an extra day of warmth in this month of November. The boys were fully able to enjoy it and play with their trucks outside today.

happy nine months baby boy. i can't believe how fast you have grown and what a joy you are for us. have a great day scooting around and exploring. and i apologize in advance for those shots you'll get at the doc's today.

perspectives on thanks. day 1.

My goal over the month of november is to add something here a bit more regularly, but reflecting on the mundane that may be happening at our home. Hopefully, those reading this, may feel encouraged to look at their day in a different light.

happy halloween.

What a treat it was to have Halloween on a Saturday. Jake and I made (and tested) some pumpkin chocolate chip muffins on Friday in anticipation of Saturday. They were awesome!! And we only have 2 left as of Sunday night! I got the recipe from the Mom's group I go to during the week and I am so glad we had an easy recipe that was ready and waiting for us to try.

We were able to do lots of very fun fall activities! Soon after we had our breakfast (more muffins) we carved our pumpkins and roasted our pumpkin seeds. It was a great year for pumpkin carving because Jake could really help. He carved one all by himself and designed the other. They are not the most perfect, traditional pumpkins, but Jake was such a huge part of it, which is the best. Pumpkin pics will come on another day...sorry for the delay!

In the mid-afternoon we headed over to one of our good friends for trick-or-treating in their neighborhood. First, let's begin the the 70 degree weather. A-mazing. Perfect for trick-or-treating. Dads took the kiddos out while Mamas manned the front-stoop to handout candy. We ended the evening with a little fire in the firepit. Such fun. Here's some pics of the evening.
