happy birthday to me

today is my big day. naturally we went out for ice cream, which didn't really take too much arm twisting. time to go now. I haven't been feeling too much like writing lately, this summer heat is really sucking the energy out of me.

another tough day

I really have had a pretty great summer so far, not bad really for my first. We spent another day at the beach with friends. I hear that there are some people who just always find themselves in the center of attention. Looking back over my photos of the past year, it would seem I am one of those very people. Hmmm.

By the time we wanted to go home, the tide came way up and my dad and his friend had to paddle this little raft out to get them. For some reason, all of the grownups found this very amusing.

p.s. It seems that I have a big, gift-oriented day coming up soon. For those interested, you can write checks out to my trust fund, which is much smaller than I would have liked. (For those of you who may not yet get my subtle sense of humor, I don't want any checks and, believe it or not, don't actually have a trust fund.)

vacation report

I'm back from a big camping trip. None of us slept a whole lot out there in the great outdoors, so we're going to make this quck and get to bed. I had fun as I was surrounded by many of my favorite things: sticks, fire, water bottles, rocks, and the ocean. As you can see here, I was having so much fun, I even let my mom cuddle with me on the beach for a few minutes longer than usual.

lazy days of summer

My first family vacation has started with a bang. We spent a lovely day on the water with our friends. Took a very long and sorta scary boat ride to a very fun beach where we all anchored up and played all day. (That's my boat in the middle of the picture, it's a white one tied up to the tan one.) It was very fun. Next we head out for a camping trip which my folks are looking forward to with just the slightest apprehension. You see, I still like to get up very early and make lots of noise about it. They say sounds have a way of traveling far at campgrounds, so I may be going for some very long, very early morning walks. I'm looking forward to it.

On that note, it's off to my p.m. nap and do a little packing.

p.s. In case you couldn't tell, my British Isles ancestry isn't doing me any favors in the tanning department.
